Learn what is true in order to do what is right. (Thomas Huxley)
I tend to agree with this statement. But probably not in the way that many people would think.
What is true can (and usually is) different for different people. Truth is individual. Doing what is true for you will lead you to do what is right for you…
…Conversely, doing what is true for someone else, will typically lead you down a very thorny path…
I occasionally meet a “Truth Seeker” who attempts to convince me that “their truth” is a universal truth that I “must adopt” in order to be happy and prosperous. There is a very strong probability that their version of true may not work for you.
When you meet one of these “Truth Seekers”, listen to what they have to say with discernment. Determine if the truth they are selling is “your truth”.
Maybe you need to try out their truth to see if it fits you… If following their truth leads you down a smooth path, it may be right for you. Traveling someone else’s truth, will lead you down a path filled with prickly experiences. If following someone else’s truth leaves you pricked and bleeding, treat the trip as a learning experience. Keep the elements of truth that work for you. Reject the truths that don’t.
Over time, you will find the truths that will lead you to do what is right for you… With time, and many thorny trips, you will be able to better discern the truths that will lead you to do what is right for you…
All the Best!
