Learn what is true in order to do what is right…

March 14th, 2015 · Life In General

Learn what is true in order to do what is right. (Thomas Huxley)

I tend to agree with this statement. But probably not in the way that many people would think.

What is true can (and usually is) different for different people. Truth is individual. Doing what is true for you will lead you to do what is right for you…

…Conversely, doing what is true for someone else, will typically lead you down a very thorny path…

I occasionally meet a “Truth Seeker” who attempts to convince me that “their truth” is a universal truth that I “must adopt” in order to be happy and prosperous. There is a very strong probability that their version of true may not work for you.

When you meet one of these “Truth Seekers”, listen to what they have to say with discernment. Determine if the truth they are selling is “your truth”.

Maybe you need to try out their truth to see if it fits you… If following their truth leads you down a smooth path, it may be right for you. Traveling someone else’s truth, will lead you down a path filled with prickly experiences. If following someone else’s truth leaves you pricked and bleeding, treat the trip as a learning experience. Keep the elements of truth that work for you. Reject the truths that don’t.

Over time, you will find the truths that will lead you to do what is right for you… With time, and many thorny trips, you will be able to better discern the truths that will lead you to do what is right for you…

Decisions or Sacrifices?

November 14th, 2014 · Life In General

While it is true that to be successful, you must make decisions, it is not necessary for it to be painful to the point of causing suffering…  Let me explain what I mean…

Many people say that you have to “make sacrifices” to get what you want in life.  That may be true if you look at life as a sacrifice, but taking a different perspective and looking at life as a “buffet of opportunities” may change the way you feel.

That is the way that I look at life, as a “buffet full of opportunities”…  Some of the items on the buffet are not very tasty… suffering, poverty, negativity, gossip, people that will use you, being a victim, not following your dreams, and on and on… I reject these items…

But there are also many delicious items on the menu as well… Success, loving relationships, support, Vibrant health, pursuing your dreams, creating value in life, financial rewards, knowledge, freedom, and many many more.

Instead of making sacrifices to get the delicious items on the buffet, I look at it as a selection process… making choices… I choose to pursue the items on the menu that will bring me success, loving relationships, support, vibrant health, understanding, value, financial rewards, knowledge, and freedom.  I make that decision and then work hard to create these things in my life.

It is a funny thing… When you make a decision for the things that truly make you smile, and then stay committed to that decision, the work is not really work.  The work becomes fun…  It is especially fun if you make those people that are important to you a part of your decision… a part of your vision…  Bring them along for the ride…

If their dream doesn’t match yours, they will probably go away, to be replaced with people that do share and support your dream.  That is a good thing… In order to make positive changes in your life, you have to give up the things in your life that are keeping you from getting there… the negative people, the bad habits, the excuses…

Make decisions!  Select the items from “life’s buffet of opportunities” that make you smile…  You can be, do, and have anything that you decide is important to you!  Select and choose the things that make you smile!

All the Best!
